During a trip to India, Sophie faced the environmental impact and exploitation of workers within the textile industry. She founded FORT Dungarees to respect and celebrate people and the environment through their clothes. They first worked to help Tibetan refugees find work in the Indian Himalayas, in fair trade certified facilities. Now, the same facility employs over 50 staff, spanning Tibetan, Nepalese and Indian cultures. FORT Dungarees ensure that fair wages are paid, holidays are given because they want to make what’s behind their clothes, visible and celebrated. They are excited to be looking towards the future of a zero waste facility.
