Safix is dedicated to minimising everyday household plastic and microplastic waste. A simple scouring sponge is made from polyester that releases tiny microplastics into our water systems that can have disastrous implications on the health of the biodiversity of our oceans. To replace plastic-based scrubbing sponges Safix designed a scrub pad from entirely natural and biodegradable materials. Made using coconut coir that is bonded with a non-toxic biodegradable adhesive and packaged in a sustainably sourced paper tag the entire product is full compostable after use. Safix manufactures their scrub pads in rural India where there is limited access to employment and work to empower the women in their supply chain by providing job security and fair living wages.
