Linen is a very durable fabric and should last for years and years. To ensure your gift wrap lasts, we recommend a gentle handwash when necessary. If you think it needs a machine wash then make sure to wash cold at 30 degrees celsius with similar colours.
A long-time advocate of sustainable living, FOLDS founder, Sarah, wanted to create a business that would have a positive impact on the environment. “On Christmas Day, sat amongst reams and reams of wrapping paper, I decided that there must be a better way. I reasoned that there must be like-minded people looking for gift wrap which is sustainable and has a life further than the recycling (or waste) bin.”
So in October 2018, FOLDS was launched. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of furoshiki, FOLDS creates organic cotton and certified linen fabric gift wrap from sustainable sources. Without the need for scissors or tape, FOLDS wraps tie around the present to create beautifully-packaged and sustainably-wrapped gifts. Made of durable and natural materials, their wraps can be reused for years - and at the end of their life, they are compostable and biodegradable.
Driven by the belief that we have a responsibility to live our lives as sustainably as possible, at FOLDS, they bring sustainability into every decision they make. From the materials they use (organic cotton and certified linen), to the way they package (recyclable and plastic-free), to the way they want to grow their business (with care and consideration), sustainability is at the heart of what FOLDS do.
FOLDS aims to create new traditions around gift-giving and allow families and friends to treasure those moments - be it wrapping together, exchanging gifts or picking their favourite gift wrap to use time and time again. They hope that by promoting sustainability in gift-wrapping, they can help to spread the word about how important it is for us to reduce waste and look after our planet.
