Blue Willow Zip-Around Purse
In early 2015, Shivani and Keshsa created Arture, which consists of the words Art and Nature. Arture use cork material that comes from the bark of the cork oak trees grown in the Mediterranean region of Europe. For centuries, cork cultivation has been a family heritage in these regions. The harvesting process ensures that no tree is ever harmed. The cultivators strip the bark of the trees, allowing them to regenerate over the next nine years. Harvested cork trees absorb 3-5 times more CO2 than non-harvested trees, meaning the cork trees in Portugal alone help offset 10 million tons of carbon each year. This makes cork one of the most ecological materials of its kind as well as being water-resistant, anti-fungal, incredibly lightweight and flexible, strong and durable. The Hemp and Nettle also used for Arture products comes from the Himalayan region in India. These plants do not require any harmful pesticides and are 100% organically cultivated. They also use 400 times lesser water than cotton crops, grow a lot faster and are quickly renewable. Hemp is also one of the strongest natural fibres known to man.
